- The length of time a User remains on the Site
- A User’s entry and exits points on the Site
- The referring site that sent a User to the Site
- Web pages viewed
The IFF uses this information to determine traffic patterns, average User session length, the number of Users to certain areas of the site, other User trends, and improvements to web site navigation and infrastructure.
Cookies
Certain parts of the Site use cookies, which are small files placed on your computer, to better enable Users to use the Site. Generally, cookies enable our server to remember Users, allow entry into password-protected areas, and to help ensure accurate measuring of web traffic. Cookies can be deleted or rejected by changing the settings on your web browser. Please be aware that your deletion or rejection of cookies may affect your ability to use certain parts of the Site effectively. Community Users (defined below) must enable cookies in order to log in to their Accounts.
IFP Online Community
The IFP Online Community is an online, interactive forum exclusively for current and past IFP fellows ("Fellows"), IFP International Partners, and IFP staff (collectively, "Community Users"). In order to access the IFP Online Community's various features, each Community User must register for a Site account ("Account").
Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the log-in information and password associated with your Account and for all activity under your Account, including the information or material provided under (or obtained using) it. You may not transfer your Account to another party (including a party that has its own Account) or do anything else to give another party access to the IFP Online Community. You must notify the IFF immediately if you become aware that anyone has gained unauthorized access to your Account. You represent, warrant and covenant that (i) all information you provide in connection with your Account is accurate and complete; (ii) you will update your Account as necessary to keep it accurate and complete; and (iii) you will not use or attempt to use your Account to pass yourself off as any other party.
The IFF reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend or terminate your Account or to restrict access to the IFP Online Community at any time if it suspects that you have not complied with the Terms of Use, including this Privacy Statement, or for other reasons that the IFF determines in good faith are necessary or appropriate, including if the IFF suspects you are using or attempting to use the IFP Online Community in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations. The IFF is not liable to you for any loss or damage that may result from its refusal to provide you access to the IFP Online Community or any portion of it.
Personal Profile
Your Account may be pre-populated with data from the IFF's grant management database, such as your first name, last name, email address, sex, institutions attended, IFP contract number, IFP fellowship start and end dates, IFP home country, and cohort year. Such data will be included in your personal profile ("Profile"), which will be included in a searchable database available to Community Users. You may also choose to supplement your Profile with additional, optional information such as your postal address, phone and fax numbers, employment information, age, languages spoken, personal photo, and hobbies or special interests.
In addition, if you signed the "Statement of Acceptance" in your grant agreement, the IFF may publish your Profile information on the public portion of the Site, which may include information such as your first name, last name, home country, country of study, field of study, degree pursued, and your status as a current or past Fellow.
If any Profile information is incorrect, you may be able to correct the information directly on the Site. Otherwise, please contact us at admin@fordifp.org.
How We Use Your Data
As used in this Privacy Statement, "Your Data" means your Profile information, personally identifiable information in the IFF's grant management database, your posts to an IFP Online Community discussion forum, and any other personally identifiable information that you provide to the Site.
The IFF uses Your Data to develop and improve our services and to encourage and support networking and collaboration among Community users. To this end, the IFF uses Your Data for such purposes as:
- Creating a searchable database of Fellow Profiles that is available to all Community Users;
- Sending email announcements ("Announcements") regarding the IFP Online Community, such as reminders to update your Profile or notices of updates made to the Site;
- Communicating with you when you need assistance with the Site; and
- Provide you with information on events, services, or other news that we think might interest you.
Community Users are automatically subscribed to the IFP Online Community's Announcement list and their home country listservs. If you no longer wish to receive emails from your country listserv, you can select the "unsubscribe" option in our emails. You may not unsubscribe from the Announcement list so long as you are a registered user. However, if at any time after your fellowship end date you no longer wish to receive emails from the IFF, you may de-register your Account by contacting us at admin@fordifp.org.
Sharing Information with Third Parties
Your Data is available to all registered Community Users. In addition, as stated above, the IFF may publish your Profile information on the public portion of the Site, which includes information such as your first name, last name, home country, country of study, field of study, degree pursued, and your status as a current or past Fellow.
The IFF uses third-party service providers (“Service Providers”) to provide certain services, such as hosting, email listserv maintenance, and website maintenance, which are necessary for IFF operations, including the operation of the Site and fulfilling your requests. These Service Providers may be supplied with or have access to Your Data for the purpose of providing these services to IFF or on our behalf.
The IFF may disclose and use Your Data in special circumstances where it is necessary, including to protect our proprietary rights, in connection with a sale or transfer of some or all of our assets in the Site, or when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires us to do so or it is necessary to protect the IFF, Site Users, or other third parties.
Protection of Children Under Age 13
The IFF does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 13 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that your child under age 13 may have provided his or her personal information to us through the Site, please contact us at admin@fordifp.org.
Links to Third Party Web Sites
The Site contains links to third-party web sites and content providers that contain information or services we believe may be of interest to you. This Privacy Statement does not apply to web sites operated by individual IFP Fellows, IFP International Partners, or any other third-party web sites referred to on the Site. We recommend that you review the privacy statement (or “policy”) and terms of use at each of these web sites to determine how the operators of those sites protect your privacy.
Security
The IFF takes reasonable precautions to keep Your Data secure (e.g., protecting servers with firewalls, conducting internal audits, employing password protections, and so forth). Of course, no transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, you provide us with Your Data at your own risk.
